A creative mind can gain all the attraction in the world with a unique style. When it comes to the cricket fraternity, Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne is known for his eccentricity as he captivated the audience with his unusual leaving techniques in the County Championship 2024.

Winning the toss and electing to bowl first initially fared well for Glamorgan in the season’s 73rd County Championship clash against Gloucestershire. Tim van der Gugten’s fifer under overcast conditions folded the opposition for 179 in the first innings. Matching the bowling brilliance with a fifer, Beau Webster ensured that Glamorgan earned a lead of just 18 runs. The batting conditions got better as the game progressed and a double century from James Bracey coupled with tons from Cameron Bancroft and Miles Hammond left Glamorgan to chase down a total of 593 in the fourth innings. After a decent opening stand, the onus was on Sam Northeast and Labuschagne to help Glamorgan surmount the chase and midway through the hustle, the latter stole the spotlight with his weird antics.

As Marchant de Lange came over the wicket to test the middle-order batter, Labuschagne stunned everyone around with his quirky approach. He ducked underneath a bumper weirdly by leaning across the line followed by a couple of shoulder arm on length deliveries bowled outside the stumps. Labuschagne was seen swiveling his blade over the ball’s trajectory and holding the pose while being semi-opened up on certain occasions. His style of leaving the ball alone grabbed eyeballs, leaving the Twitterverse abuzz.
