The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the two-white ball squads for India’s tour of Sri Lanka starting July 27. Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the captain for the three T20Is whereas Rohit Sharma will lead in the three-match ODI series starting 2nd August.

The selection process was led by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir, who met with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah to finalize the squads for both the T20I and ODI series.

Suryakumar Yadav will captain the T20I team, with Shubman Gill serving as vice-captain. Notably, Hardik Pandya was omitted from leadership duties despite having served as a regular stand-in for Rohit Sharma in the lead-up to the recently concluded T20 World Cup, as well as the vice-captain of the side during the tournament.

Additionally, members of the World Cup winning squad Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Mohammed Siraj are set to return to the fold after being rested for the five-match series in Zimbabwe.

Shubman Gill is set to serve as the deputy in the 50-over format as well, albeit under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Experienced players like Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul return to the 50-over format after a significant break, possibly with an eye on the Champions Trophy in six months. Riyan Parag and Harshit Rana were also handed their maiden ODI call-ups after impressive IPL campaigns.

The tour will feature three T20Is and three ODIs. The former will take place in Pallekele from July 27th to July 30th, while the ODIs will be held in Colombo, starting August 2nd.

India’s T20I Squad vs Sri Lanka: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Ꮪhubman Gill (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Mohd. Siraj.
