Cricket is a funny game and often has been subjected to some unusual moments, sparking debates in the fraternity. MS Dhoni’s denial of run by screaming at in-form Daryl Mitchell was the talk of the town during the first innings as Chennai Super Kings squared off against Punjab Kings in Chepauk.

‌Winning the toss and electing to field first proved to be a good decision from Sam Curran after Punjab Kings conceded just 102 runs in 15 overs. With the fall of Sameer Rizvi and Ruturaj Gaikwad during the slog overs, Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni intended to take charge with the bat with a couple of overs to spare. Subsequently, Rahul Chahar gave away a mere three runs in the 19th over with MS Dhoni facing four balls. Right after, Arshdeep Singh gave away six runs including two wides from the first couple of balls in the 20th over before an unusual Dhoni act.

The left-arm quick bowled a low full-toss wide outside the stumps from over the wicket that Dhoni miscued towards sweeper cover. While there was an easy single up for grabs and Daryl Mitchell already reached the striker’s end for a run, Dhoni sent him back denying the run. The former Indian captain has been in amusing form with the bat at the fag end of the innings and backed his abilities to deny an inform batter who was ready for a couple of runs. Dhoni was seen gesturing at Mitchell to go back towards the bowler’s end, trying to hog him for a run, thereby sending the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
