English legend James Anderson is set to bid adieu to Test cricket following the first match against West Indies at Lord's this summer. Having debuted in 2003, the 41-year-old scalped 700 wickets in 187 matches, solidifying his status as the sole pace bowler to achieve this feat.

‌James Anderson will quit test cricket following England's first test match against West Indies at the Lords this summer. 
The English pacer announced his retirement in an Instagram post, “Hi everyone. Just a note to say that the first Test of the summer at Lord’s will be my last Test.” England is slated to play six Tests this summer, facing off against West Indies and Sri Lanka in August. 

In England's recent five-match Test series defeat to India, Anderson managed to secure 10 wickets across four matches. With a remarkable tally of 987 wickets across formats, the highest among all seamers, Anderson's abilities are evident. Despite his last ODI appearance dating back to the 2015 World Cup, he leads the charts for England with an impressive 269 wickets.

As per reports by the Guardian, England's Test team coach Brendon McCullum had reportedly informed Anderson that the team is focusing on the future, setting their sights on the Ashes 2025-26 in Australia.
