In another rain-affected game this season, the contest between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans was called off. A steady downpour at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium since the afternoon forced match officials to abandon the game, resulting in each team being awarded one point.

‌As the evening progressed and the official broadcast began at 6:30 PM IST, the weather in Hyderabad looked promising, with both teams seen practising on the field. However, a slight drizzle forced the toss to be postponed to 8:00 PM IST, with the match rescheduled to start at 8:15 PM IST. Fans cheered when Sunrisers skipper Pat Cummins changed from his practice kit into the official jersey, signalling readiness for the toss. Unfortunately, the drizzle returned, leaving fans waiting anxiously. The cut-off time for losing overs was at 8:35 PM IST, which became increasingly relevant as the steady downpour persisted and overs began to be reduced. Unfortunately, there were no signs for the rains to stop as the downpour continued. With no signs of the weather clearing up, match officials finally called off the game at 10:15 PM IST, prompting Pat Cummins and Shubman Gill to shake hands.

With the game's abandonment, Sunrisers qualified for the playoffs, securing 15 points and joining Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals in the top three. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are officially eliminated from the tournament, and Lucknow Super Giants have a slim chance of qualifying (practically improbable) as they face Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede tomorrow. SRH's chances for a top-two finish is no longer in their hands as the KKR vs RR game is going to be a deciding factor for where the Orange Army finish.

All eyes now turn to the battle for the fourth spot in the points table. Saturday’s game between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will serve as a de facto knockout match, with the winner securing two points and a place in the playoffs. The home side must defeat CSK by a margin of at least 18 runs or with 11 balls to spare to qualify for the playoffs.
