‌New Zealand got off to a rocky start after winning the toss, with Devon Conway dismissed by Akash Deep in the fourth over. However, Tom Latham and Will Young stabilized the innings, putting together a 44-run partnership that brought the score to 59/1 after 15 overs. Washington Sundar’s spin magic from the previous match continued as he quickly took the wickets of Latham and Rachin Ravindra.

As Daryl Mitchell and Young were batting, a moment of tension arose when Mitchell appeared irritated by Rishabh Pant’s relentless chatter behind the stumps. During the 27th over, Ravindra Jadeja bowled a series of excellent deliveries, with Mitchell failing to score off the first three. As pressure mounted, Pant’s ongoing commentary seemed to weigh on Mitchell, who paused before the fourth delivery to address the Indian wicketkeeper. It was evident that Pant’s constant talk was distracting him. Rohit Sharma, positioned at first slip, intervened and conversed with Mitchell gesturing to show his support for Pant while encouraging Mitchell to focus on his batting. As the drama unfolded, the Twitterverse couldn’t resist commenting on the situation.
