‌SA vs IND | Twitter and Tilak flabbergasted as flying Miller snares one-handed jaw-dropper

It takes an ounce of extraordinary endeavor to stop a seemingly unstoppable force. David Miller’s one-handed catch inside the thirty-yard circle to deny a well-settled Tilak Varma exemplified a similar trend during the first innings of the second T20I between South Africa and India.

Winning the toss and choosing to field first paid rich dividends for South African captain Aiden Markram with Marco Jansen getting rid of in-form Sanju Samson in the first over itself. Gerald Coetzee removed Abhishek Sharma from the opposite end before Suryakumar Yadav followed suit within the powerplay. Tilak Varma looked the only batter who could go seamless under adverse conditions and it took an incredible effort to get the set batter out in the eighth over.

Having conceded just four runs in five balls of the eighth over, Varma looked to perfect an aerial cover drive on the last ball of the over. Although he timed the fuller delivery outside the stumps perfectly, the ball ended up being caught inside the thirty-yard circle, courtesy of an extraordinary effort from Miller. The Proteas veteran swerved to his right in quick time to pluck the hard-hit ball out of thin air. It seemed almost like a hawk plucked its prey within a fraction of a second. Witnessing Miller’s jaw-dropping catch, Varma and the spectators at St George’s Park were dumbstruck with the camera focusing on an individual covering his mouth in utter shock. The Twitterverse shared similar responses on Miller’s incredible catch on the particular catch.

Consistency is a tough ask when balancing risk and intent on the cricket field. Sanju Samson’s bold approach cost him as he fell to Marco Jansen for a golden duck in the second T20I against South Africa at St George’s Park, Gqeberha, ending his streak after back-to-back T20I centuries.
