When two cricketing worlds collide—especially the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the IPL—excitement reaches new heights for fans and players alike. Such was the case during the first Test at Perth, where Nathan Lyon and Rishabh Pant engaged in a lighthearted banter about the upcoming IPL mega auction.

‌Australia's seamers, led by Starc and Hazlewood, dominated the early overs, reducing India to 18/2 after dismissing Jaiswal and Padikkal for ducks. Despite KL Rahul showing promise, Kohli’s early departure and Starc’s brilliance left India struggling at 51/4 by lunch. Post-lunch, Mitchell Marsh’s maiden spell added to India’s woes as wickets continued to tumble, with Jurel and Sundar falling quickly. At 74/6 in 33 overs, the visitors relied on Rishabh Pant and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy to salvage the innings. Amidst this, there was a funny moment between Pant and Nathan Lyon involving the IPl mega auction.

During a break in play, as Rishabh Pant was gearing up for an attacking approach, Nathan Lyon walked up to him with a cheeky smile and asked, “Where are we going in the auction?” Pant, ever the sport, flashed a grin and replied, “No idea.” The exchange was a humorous moment, adding some lightness to the intense battle on the field. This playful banter was also a nod to the ongoing rivalry between Pant and Lyon, alongside the looming IPL mega auction in Riyadh. Pant, having been released by Delhi Capitals, now finds himself in the spotlight, with fans eagerly speculating about which team might pick him up in the auction.
