A signature shot from a cricket legend always captivates the audience and signals a return to form. Such was the moment on the third of the first test in Perth when Virat Kohli displayed his brilliance with a sublime straight drive off Pat Cummins, further intensifying Australia's frustrations.

‌India’s batting shone brightly, powered by a 201-run partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, before Mitchell Starc dismissed Rahul in the 63rd over. Devdutt Padikkal then joined Jaiswal, contributing to a strong stand that extended India’s lead to 321 runs by lunch, with the score at 275/1. The afternoon session started dramatically as Padikkal fell to Hazlewood on the very first ball. However, Jaiswal continued his stellar form, reaching a magnificent 150, while Virat Kohli provided solid support to maintain India’s dominance. The former Indian skipper thereafter showcased his brilliance with a beautiful straight drive off Pat Cummins.

On the first ball of the 93rd over, Cummins bowled an overpitched delivery around the off stump, angling slightly towards the leg. Virat Kohli, with impeccable footwork, pressed forward and met the ball perfectly, executing a picture-perfect straight drive. The timing and placement were sublime as the red cherry rocketed past the bowler and raced to the boundary rope, leaving the fielders and the crowd in awe. The shot not only showcased Kohli's class but also sparked a wave of nostalgia on Twitter, with fans reminiscing about his iconic drives
