The best way to gift your fans is by performing with the desired result. Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out the same for Ruturaj Gaikwad who departed for a golden duck in the India A versus Australia A at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, McKay ahead of the pivotal Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Eyeing to make a mark on Australian soil, top players from the Indian domestic circuit constituted to square off against Australia A, three weeks before the inception of 2024/25 Border Gavaskar Trophy. Winning the toss, the home side skipper Nathan McSweeney elected to field first and make the most out of the new ball in the morning session. The ploy turned out fruitful for the Kangaroos as the opposition skipper fell for a golden duck in the second over itself.

Jordan Buckingham shared the new ball with Fergus O’Neil from the other end after a maiden first over against Abhimanyu Easwaran. Gaikwad, who was facing the first delivery of the unofficial Test was greeted by a fuller length delivery down the leg stump line. Realising a potential scoring opportunity, the skipper flicked at it but ended up with a nick en route to the wicketkeeper Josh Philippe. Soon, the Maharashtra-bred was left disappointed as he walked off the field with a golden duck, failing to make a mark with the bat. With the India A eventually, getting fold for 107, the Twitterverse broke into trauma and spurred out their emotions.
