PAK vs BAN | Twitter laughs as Pakistan’s fielding tradition goes wild with repetitive overthrows

Misfielding and poor fielding have been persistent issues for Pakistan cricket, often setting new lows. This was starkly evident on the final day of the second Test against Bangladesh, where shoddy fielding and a crucial overthrow allowed Bangladesh to score additional runs chasing a meager target.

Mir Hamza’s early dismissal of Zakir Hasan jolted Bangladesh’s overnight stand, leading to Pakistan's increased pressure on the opposition. Khurram Shehzad then removed Shadman Islam, leaving Bangladesh at 85/2 after 21 overs, requiring an additional 100 runs. But just before lunch, another fielding blunder occurred creating more worry for the hosts.

On the final delivery of the 33rd over, Salman Agha delivered a flat ball to Bangladesh's captain. The delivery was slightly short and Shanto flicked it towards square leg. He and his partner Mushfiur completed a single as the square-leg fielder failed to stop the ball, allowing it to be thrown back by the deep square-leg fielder. However, the throw missed the mark at the bowler's end, and the ball was relayed to mid-wicket. Shan Masood then made an incorrect throw, allowing the Bangladeshi batsmen to snatch an extra run. The fielding lapse drew criticism on social media, with many expressing their frustration at Pakistan's fielding errors.
