A cricket match where players unite as a team often holds valuable lessons for one another. As Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin complement each other to revive India from adversity, the latter was awed by the former’s striking ability in the last session on the first day of the Chennai Test.

Aiming to continue their dream run following a whitewash against Pakistan, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto decided to field first under overseas conditions during the toss. As Hasan Mahmud removed the top three in the first session, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 62-run stand rebuilt the Indian castle. However, both batters and KL Rahul failed to extend their knock in the second session leaving India curtailing at 144/6. It was Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin who held the fort and counterattacked the Bangladesh bowlers to deny any further hiccups. As they looked ferocious and smart in their batting, one of the strokes from the all-rounder left the local boy delighted.

Following a four off the first ball of the 75th over, Mehidy dragged the length short for the second time and offered room outside the stumps. Jadeja prodded forward and clobbered it across the line to help the ball sail over the deep mid wicket region for a six. It was hit very hard and the white ball went like a tracer bullet over the cushions. Seeing a brilliant stroke from his ally, Ashwin from the non-striker’s end was seen awed, leaving the Twitterverse appreciate their teamwork.
