‌After three consecutive losses, Chennai Super Kings were asked to bowl first by Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer at Mullanpur. The home side got off to a flying start, with Delhi youngster Priyansh Arya smashing 17 runs in the opening over. However, the five-time champions struck back quickly as the left-arm pace duo of Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Choudhary removed Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh respectively. Adding to Punjab’s troubles, Khaleel struck again to claim the key wicket of Marcus Stoinis. Despite the setbacks, Priyansh carried on with his aggressive approach and reached a blazing 19-ball half-century. With him and Nehal Wadhera at the crease, Punjab reached 75/3 at the end of the powerplay. Chennai continued to chip away as Ravichandran Ashwin picked up Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell in the eighth over. But the spotlight remained on Priyansh Arya, who lit up Mullanpur with a sensational century off just 39 balls and propelled the score to 151/5 in 13 overs. Although he was dismissed in the 14th over, the momentum didn’t stop there.It was then the turn of Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen, who stitched a brilliant 65-run partnership. Their powerful stand helped Punjab Kings post a commanding total of 219/6, with Shashank bringing up a well-deserved half-century.
