Honesty is admirable, but in cricket, being too honest can sometimes lead to brain-fade moments. That’s exactly what happened with Ishan Kishan during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s home clash against Mumbai Indians, where he walked off despite the ball not making contact with either his bat or gloves.

‌A packed Hyderabad crowd turned up in anticipation, hoping to see their home team secure a win against the Mumbai Indians in the reverse fixture. Visiting captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first—a decision that paid early dividends. Opener Travis Head was dismissed by Trent Boult in just the second over, leaving Sunrisers at 9/1 The troubles didn’t end there for the hosts. In a bizarre moment, Ishan Kishan fell in rather dramatic fashion, leaving fans and teammates stunned.

On the first ball of the third over, Deepak Chahar bowled a sharp in-swinger down the leg side. Ishan attempted a flick, appeared to get a faint edge. Wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton dived to his right and claimed the catch. Without waiting for the umpire Vinod Seshan to make a decision, Ishan walked off on his own, earning nods of appreciation from Mumbai players for his sportsmanship.

However, his honesty seemed to have misfired. Replays told a different story as the Ultraedge showed no spike as the ball passed the bat. Social media erupted in confusion, with fans questioning Ishan’s decision to walk. As he sat in the dressing room, visibly disappointed, Twitter was abuzz with reactions, many wondering what had prompted such a premature exit.
