As per reports on Cricbuzz, Chennai Super Kings have rejected Rajasthan Royals’ trade request of Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad in place of Sanju Samson in the IPL. The Royals’ owner Manoj Badale had written to CSK after the RR skipper had requested to part ways with the Jaipur-based team.

‌Chennai Super Kings are reported to rule out Rajasthan Royals’ request to acquire Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad in place of wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 mini-auction. As per reports on Cricbuzz, the Royals’ owner Manoj Badale had written to CSK directly, querying their interest in Samson.

He also tried to strike a trade deal for the Royals’ skipper in exchange for all-rounder Jadeja and current CSK skipper Gaikwad. But the Chennai-based franchise was not impressed by the deal and is reported to have rejected the bid. They have also closed out discussions on Shivam Dube, which is coming up in various quarters, confirming that the all-rounder will also stay with the side in the upcoming season.

With that the chances of Samson wearing the yellow jersey went further south, unless CSK are ready to have further negotiations or the Royals leave him out for the auction. The Royals’ owner has written to the franchise after earlier reports quoted that skipper Samson was not happy with the franchise and the team management and wanted to make the shift ahead of the upcoming season.

Samson has been with the Royals for 13 seasons in the Indian Premier League and has played a total of 155 matches after making his debut under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy in IPL 2013. He is the Royals’ most-capped player and also their top run-getter with a tally of 4219 runs at an average of 31.96 and a strike rate of 140.53.

The wicketkeeper-batter has captained the franchise in 67 games from the 2021 edition, taking the side to the final in IPL 2022 and again to the playoffs in 2024.
