Cricket has been far from being a contest of bat and ball with technology and decision-making often playing a great role in dictating the outcome of a match. Babar Azam did not just fail with the bat but also with his review, burning a review for his side under adversity in Multan.

Following a long delay due to frost in Pakistan versus West Indies' first Test, Shan Masood elected to bat first during the toss and avoid the fourth innings by batting on a rank-turner. His ploy backfired with the ball turning square from the first over itself. Gudakesh Motie drew first blood followed by Jayden Seales spitting venom with the ball from the opposite end. The  Pakistan top order failed to handle the precisive lines and seam movement off the pitch, with Babar Azam’s poor review adding salt to injury.

The third ball of the 14th over saw Seales come over the wicket and bowl a length delivery angled into the fourth stump of Babar. The ball maintained its shape, provoking Babar to play the ball on the front foot. The right-hander intended to defend inside the line and ended up with an outside edge en route to the wicketkeeper. Although a deflection was spotted to the naked eye and the umpire signaled out, Babar opted a review to challenge the onfield decision. However, the original decision remained as Utraedge showed clear spike. Eventually, Babar laughed off his decision to review while strolling off the field, attracting criticism in the Twitterverse.
