Batters often hope for the umpires to rule in their favour, but KL Rahul was a welcome exception during the fourth Test against England in Manchester on Sunday. The opener started his walk immediately after being hit on the pads by Ben Stokes and didn’t even wait for the umpire’s decision.

‌With Shubman Gill and KL Rahul staging a fightback for India to take the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester into the final day, the visitors still had unfinished business. India trailed England by 137 runs at the start of the day’s play, with the pair continuing their overnight stay at the crease.

The duo were cautious to start with, adding 14 runs of the first seven overs from Ben Stokes and Liam Dawson. But the England skipper, as he has always done, priced out a dismissal from nowhere in his fourth over. Off the second ball, Stokes bowled on a short of a length with the ball swinging in towards the Indian opener.

He was ready for that, but the low bounce caught him by surprise as the ball went straight past his bat to rock into the pads. The ball would have gone on to hit the middle of the middle stump, and it was evident from the batter’s reaction.

Just as he was struck, he turned away from the wicket and started his walk back even before the umpire had declared him out. Though captain Shubman Gill tried to convince the senior batter to take a review, Rahul was not interested as he knew that he was plumb in front.

Twitter was shattered as Rahul’s fighting knock of 90 from 230 balls came to an end, but praised the batter’s decision not to review the LBW decision.

Mr. Carse what was that?

Bruh knew it!

Haa!

Real fight he had put up!
