Sunrisers Hyderabad looked to be back at their riveting best at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow as the hosts sashed 71 runs in the powerplay, albeit at the loss of two wickets. Even when the field spread, the Orange Army juggernaut showed no intentions of stopping as Klaasen pummelled leg-spinner Suyash Sharma for a four and a six in the seventh over itself, thus setting up an enticing encounter when the youngster returned for his second over. Theatre ensued.

Before Suyash could even get to Klaasen, he had to suffer at the hands of Ishan Kishan as the wicket-keeper batter struck two consecutive boundaries in the ninth over before handing strike to the Proteas. Klaasen added one more immediately after as he innocously nudged a nothing ball on his pads for four, leaving Suyash clearly feeling the heat and losing his composure. Understanding what the spinner was going through, the experienced Virat Kohli immediately walked up to Suyash and had a patient conversation with him, evidently spouting words of wisdom to his compatriot. As it turned out, the pep talk paid massive dividends with Suyash getting rid of Klaasen the very next ball with a deceptive googly, thus bringing RCB back into the encounter.
