Power and precision are crucial traits for any batter, but occasionally, precision can often lead their downfall. Such was the case with Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya, who fell to a poor dismissal at the hands of Marco Jansen, leaving the MI captain visibly stunned at Jaipur.

‌Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first despite a batting-friendly pitch, but Mumbai openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma gave their team a strong start, reaching 45/0 in five overs. Marco Jansen dismissed Rickelton, and Suryakumar Yadav joined Sharma to push the score to 79/1 in nine overs. Harpreet Brar removed Sharma, followed by quick wickets from Vyshak Vijaykumar, who dismissed Tilak Varma and Will Jacks. By the end of 15 overs, Mumbai stood at 131/4 with Suryakumar and Hardik Pandya at the crease, though Pandya soon fell to Jansen's clever bowling.

 

On the first delivery of the 17th over, Hardik Pandya appeared assured as he stepped out, cleared his front leg, and muscled Jansen’s length ball for a towering 83-metre six. However, Jansen responded smartly. On the very next ball, he delivered a slower one, short of a length and wide outside off. Tempted by the room, Pandya went after it, shfited back and throwing his hands through the shot. But instead of timing it cleanly, he got a thick outside edge that flew straight into the gloves of Punjab wicketkeeper Josh Inglis. Pandya was left stunned, placing his bat on his head in frustration, seemingly regretting the shot. His dismissal quickly caught attention online, with fans on social media criticising his rash shot selection.
