Adam Zampa is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League for Karachi Kings. He was among the few players who went on to play the PSL behind closed doors. This shocking move by Zampa comes right after he chose not to participate in IPL 2026. He finally answered why he chose PSL over IPL.

Adam Zampa has been among the few players who have decided to skip the IPL 2026 season. But what makes him unique is the fact that Zampa chose PSL over IPL. He finally broke silence on the same at ARY Podcast, telling the fans why he decided to play Pakistan Super League over the famous T20 league.

He said,“I pulled out of the IPL this year. To be brutally honest, for someone with my skill set, I just don’t get the money that is there for other skill sets. And for the amount of time that the IPL takes, it just didn’t seem like a reasonable choice for me to keep playing it.”

Zampa was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last season but didn't get many opportunities to play. He played just two games for the team, and remained at the bench for the remainder of the season. Right before the IPL 2026 auction, he was eventually released by the team.

Our Take

Zampa has chosen PSL over IPL due to a number of reasons, surely of his own. He thought of taking a break from the game for a few months but knowing that the PSL is around the corner, he decided to participate in the same. Karachi Kings bought Zampa to their name, bringing him back to the game.

However, it should also be noted that this is not the first time Zampa opted out of the IPL. He has done this earlier in IPL 2024, when he was a part of the Rajasthan Royals. At that time, he cited that he was completely drained due to his heavy international schedule.
