Yashasvi Jaiswal is proving himself to be an all format player for the Indian team. Despite not being in India's T20 squad for a long time, he is leading the Orange Cap race in IPL 2026. Moreover, his performances in the ODI and Test format have also peaked recently.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is proving himself to be an all format player for the Indian team. Despite not being in India's T20 squad for a long time, he is leading the Orange Cap race in IPL 2026. Moreover, his performances in the ODI and Test format have also peaked recently.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is still showing his value to the Indian Cricket team. He has played a significant role in the Test side, yet he is yet to retain a key role in ODI and T20Is. To this, Jaiswal has once again proved to the selectors that he should be included in the Indian team even in the T20I format in which he has been overlooked over the years.

Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals were engaged in a fierce battle yesterday. While the match was affected by rain, it was Jaiswal's show later on. He continued hitting boundaries without any kind of difficulty against bowlers like Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and even Hardik Pandya.

This ultimately assisted Jaiswal to make 77 runs with only 32 balls, and propel Rajasthan Royals to an incredible 150 in 11 overs. It is with this that he has got back the Orange Cap in the IPL, having amassed 170 runs in this season. Jaiswal has given a statement of intent to the selectors, as he awaits for a permanent spot in India's white ball team.

IPL Consistency

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been one of the consistent openers in the IPL lately. Still he has not been a part of the Indian team over the last few years in the T20 format. In the IPL 2025, he finished as the highest run scorer for Rajasthan Royals, having scored 6 half-centuries in 14 games.

Yashasvi Jaiswal in IPL Since 2025:

  • Innings: 17
  • Not Out: 3
  • Runs: 729
  • Average: 52.07
  • Strike Rate: 160.6
  • 50s: 8

His consistency is not just scoring runs for the team in almost every game. It also means scoring runs with aggression, which has made Jaiswal one of the finest players in the T20I setup lately. The last time Jaiswal played a T20 match for the Indian team came back in 2024, during the India tour of Sri Lanka.

Yashasvi Jaiswal in T20Is:

  • Innings: 22
  • Not Out: 2
  • Runs: 723
  • Average: 36.15
  • Strike Rate: 164.31
  • 100s: 1
  • 50s: 5

Despite such good performances in his T20I career, Jaiswal has missed out on the Indian team for almost two years. If his performances like this continue in the upcoming IPL games, he would surely be in contention for India's upcoming T20I series after the IPL, which features a packed schedule.

Dream ODI Debut

Jaiswal has also played a few games for the Indian team in the ODI format. However, his ODI matches came only at times when the Indian team missed their main opener due to some reason. He played his first ODI match against England back in 2025 before the Champions Trophy, where he was able to score just 15 runs off 22 balls.

Eventually, Indian skipper Shubman Gill was ruled out of the ODI series against South Africa, and Jaiswal got an opportunity to play again. This was a chance for Jaiswal to prove himself, and he ensured to give his best for the team. The first two games saw him scoring runs but he was not able to convert them to big totals.

However, Jaiswal dominated for the Indian team in the third ODI. South Africa managed to score just 270 runs in this game, and Jaiswal showcased his prime form. He went on to score 116 runs off 121 balls, helping India to win the game. With this, he brought up his maiden ODI ton and even won the POTM award.

Test Consistency

Not only is Jaiswal able to do well for the team in ODI and T20 format. He also continues to be a key player for the Indian team in the Test side. Even in the toughest format of the game, he stands among the top batters in the ICC rankings. Moreover, he has dominated for the Indian team across all the series played.

Yashasvi Jaiswal in Tests:

  • Innings: 53
  • Not Out: 2
  • Runs: 2511
  • Average: 49.23
  • Strike Rate: 66.02
  • 100s: 7
  • 50s: 13

Regardless of the format, Jaiswal has proved himself to be a versatile batsman for the Indian team. This makes him similar to KL Rahul, who has done this job in different batting positions and even in different formats. It still remains to be seen whether the selectors will give Jaiswal consistent opportunities in the near future or not.
