Babar Azam has started to break records yet again in the T20 format. Recently in the PSL, he was able to cross the 12000 run mark in the T20 format, which helped him to break records. He took less innings than Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle in the same, breaking their records.

Babar Azam has once again answered with his bat, as he dominated in the PSL. In the clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, he went on to score 87 runs in 51 balls for his team. This eventually helped Babar Azam to reach the 12000 runs mark in the shortest format of the game.

He has achieved this record in a historic total of just 338 innings. This has allowed Babar to overtake Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle, who earlier stood at the top in this list. Chris Gayle, the former West Indies opener, was able to reach this mark in 343 innings, as Azam broke it by reaching it 5 innings earlier than him.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, stood at the second number in this list earlier. He was able to achieve the 12000 runs mark in the T20 format in just 360 innings. And now, Babar Azam has managed to create history as he made this record fully to his name by reaching it in just 338 innings.

Our Take

Babar Azam has continued to do well in the T20 format lately. Even though Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle have retired from T20Is, Babar will be looking forward to continuing his journey in the same on a high note. Among these three players, only Virat Kohli continues to play in the Indian Premier League, where he only gets to play around 14 games in a year. With Babar Azam having more number of games available to him as he participates in different leagues, he will be looking forward to breaking many more records.
