South Africa has been dominant in the current World Test Championship cycle. Being the defending champions, they still aim to reach the finals in the current edition, holding the second spot. Their upcoming series is also against the same team whom they defeated in the finals, as they face Australia for a three match series.

But right before the Test series against Australia, it seems that the team has been hit with a major injury blow. Kagiso Rabada is reported to have suffered with a right hamstring injury in the practice sessions. This comes at a time when the team is preparing itself for the series against Australia.

It is scheduled to commence from 9 October, and will be playing a crucial role to determine which one of these two teams will be holding the top spot in the WTC rankings. Currently, Australia is going against Bangladesh in a two match series, as they will feel ready against South Africa.

Our Take

The reports of Kagiso Rabada being injured could be true, as South Africa will be having a major impact of the same in the Australia tests. He has been a primary pacer for the Proteas and acted as a key wicket-taker. As of now, the CSA will be focusing on his fitness to ensure he is available for a few games.
