The Australian Domestic One Day Cup has officially come to an end, and the tournament was filled with thrilling games. Even the final match between New South Wales and Tasmania kept the fans to the edge of their seats. With both teams giving their best, New South Wales was able to finish the game in their favour.

The match’s start was delayed and eventually it was reduced to 22 overs each side. With Tasmania batting first, the team was only able to score 118 runs and they were not even able to play the 22 overs. New South Wales was expected to chase the short target with ease.

But quick wickets ensured that the pressure remained on them. However, Kurtis Patterson, who came to bat at number three, finished the job well. He went on to score 52 runs off 57 balls with just 4 fours, which ensured that his team won the game. This is now the 13th One Day Cup title for New South Wales, as the team continues its dominance.

Our Take

Kurtis Patterson’s half-century played a crucial role for New South Wales in this victory. But the game went to their side with the help of its opening bowlers. Ben Dwarshuis and Sean Abbott started off well for the team, which ensured that Tasmania remained restricted to a low total.

Taking 3 wickets each, Abbott and Dwarshuis didn't allow the top order batsmen of Tasmania to score runs. This eventually helped NSW to restrict Tasmania for just 118 runs. The chase went close, and it seemed challenging for NSW to win. But the cameo played by Joel Davies of 20 runs in 10 balls ensured that his team reached the win comfortably.
