Lucknow Super Giants secured a 7-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings. With every game being crucial for the Super Kings, a massive loss has hit them hard in this race. It remains to be seen how the remaining two games will go for CSK if they want to reach the top four.
The race to the playoffs is getting heated with each passing game in the IPL 2026. We saw Mumbai Indians, an eliminated team, defeat Punjab Kings and lower their chances of reaching the playoffs. And yesterday, another eliminated team, Lucknow Super Giants, did the same with Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai Super Kings were sent to bat first in yesterday's game at Ekana Cricket Stadium. Wickets fell quickly as Akash Singh was able to dismantle the top order of CSK. Still, Kartik Sharma and Dewald Brevis rebuilt the innings, getting support from Shivam Dube and Prashant Veer, which helped CSK to score down 187/5.
Following this, Lucknow Super Giants were off to an amazing start in the chase. Mitchell Marsh went on to score 90 runs off just 38 balls, which set the tone for the finishers. Later, Nicholas Pooran smashed four consecutive sixes to Anshul Kamboj, helping his team to get the win.
Here's how Twitter has reacted to CSK getting a loss in a must win game.
