Ex-Pakistani Speedster Could Finally Play in IPL
It has been almost two decades since any Pakistani player participated in the IPL. Mohammad Amir has now been granted British citizenship, which makes him eligible to participate in the tournament. It remains to be seen whether he enters the next auction or not.
If you have been following the Indian Premier League for a long time, you would have been aware of the time when even the Pakistani players played in the IPL teams. Rajasthan had Sohail Tanvir, Shahid Afridi for Deccan Chargers, Shoaib Akhtar for KKR, and more.
But the inaugural season of the tournament was the only edition when Pakistani players participated in the tournament. Now, there are chances that we could soon watch another former Pakistani player participate in the IPL. And that would be none other than Mohammad Amir. It is not due to the fact that he has played for Pakistan, as it should be noted that he shifted to Britain a while ago.
Mohammad Amir has now acquired a British citizenship, which now makes him eligible to participate in the IPL. It remains to be seen whether he would be entering the IPL auction in the upcoming season or not. If yes, the bidding war for the former Pakistani player would be a good one among the Indian teams.
Our Take
Mohammad Amir in the Indian Premier League would be one of the most unexpected things among all the fans. He used to play against India and even dominated over Indian batters such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. But when he would be playing in the IPL, fans would want to see him in one of the big teams of the tournament such as Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Mumbai Indians.
