The team posted on its social media announcing that Rishabh Pant has stepped down as the captain of the team. Under his captaincy, Lucknow Super Giants finished last in the standings and were not able to do well even in the IPL 2025 season. Now after a poor finish in the IPL 2026 season, Rishabh Pant has decided himself to step down as the captain.

Tom Moody, the Director of Cricket at LSG said, “Rishabh approached the franchisee with this request and we have respectfully accepted it. These decisions are never easy. It was totally unexpected for the fans that when they would be waiting for the Qualifier 2 clash, Rishabh Pant and Lucknow Super Giants would hit them with this news.
