My future is being discussed with Ajax, remarks Real Madrid target Donny Van de Beek
Influential Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek has revealed that he hopes that a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid can be sorted out amongst the clubs “soon”. The Dutchman has been consistently linked with Real Madrid over the past weeks, with the Los Blancos eager to boost their ageing midfield.
Real Madrid are trying to overcome the shadows of a bad year and have splashed huge amounts of money this summer, hoping for a fresh start. The club has signed Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo, to their already world-class squad, as they look to make a big splash this season.
However, their search for a midfielder started and ended at Paul Pogba, but with Manchester United refusing to sell, that has changed their approach. Donny Van de Beek’s performances for his club and country caught the eye of the footballing world lasts season, with him helping Ajax win the domestic double, and played a major role in the club’s journey to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Furthermore, the midfielder scored 17 goals and racked up 13 assists during the 2108/19 campaign, which has made him Real Madrid's new top midfield priority this summer. The 22-year-old Dutch international signed for Ajax as a young child but looks set to leave for the Spanish giants.
“It is no secret that my future is being discussed with Ajax,” he told reporters. “Talks about a potential move are ongoing and hopefully we will reach a conclusion soon. However, for now I am focused on Ajax and I will play in the game with PAOK later this week.” he further added.
