Christian Eriksen will win Tottenham titles, says Harry Redknapp
Christian Eriksen's future is still uncertain as the summer transfer window comes to an end. Nevertheless, Harry Redknapp thinks Tottenham should hang onto the midfielder if they are serious about going head-to-head with their rivals for the possibility of winning any major title this season.
Despite the recent incomings of Giovanni Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, the former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp admits that the club should make Christian Eriksen untransferable if they want to compete for silverware on the upcoming season. The Danish midfielder has been amongst the club's best players over the last four odd seasons, alongside Harry Kane and Dele Alli, which has seen him attract attention from elsewhere.
Both Real Madrid and Manchester United have been linked with moves, although nothing has materialized as of yet. However, with just one year left on his current deal, it is a big problem for Tottenham.
"If Spurs are serious about silverware then Christian Eriksen must stay. Aston Villa was digging in with a 1-0 lead on Saturday when Pochettino turned to his bench. Eriksen came on and you thought, 'I've seen this film before’. You knew Spurs would win.” confessed Redknapp. "The Dane dictates play and Tottenham know it. When the ball was at the back, they looked to get it to Eriksen. When it was in midfield, they looked for Eriksen. He was only on the pitch for 26 minutes but no forward created more chances."
However, things are not looking great for Tottenham, as Eriksen only has one year left on his contract and is not willing at the moment to renew it, according to Goal. Thanks to this situation, Daniel Levy could be obligated to sell the midfielder before the market shuts down on September 2, and not take any risks of letting him leave as a free transfer next year.
