Jamshedpur FC would be likely having a late but crucial addition to their ISL squad as they are reportedly close to sign Spanish striker Sergio Castel Martinez from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid’s B side. Martinez is be the sixth foreigner for the Men of Steel after finishing fifth last season.

With most other teams already down with their transfer business, the fag end of the transfer window wasn’t expecting any huge move by the Indian Super League sides. However, JFC have pulled off one such in Martinez.

The 24-year-old Spanish striker, as reported by Goal, would be coming to Jamshedpur after impressing in the Spanish leagues. Starting his career with Segunda Division ‘B’ side Tudelando FC in 2013-14, Martinez left the club for CD Lealtad after three years before, eventually, moving to SS Reyes.

It was in Reyes that Martinez hit form scoring 13 goals in 34 outings. It was his form that led to Atletico Madrid ‘B’ team calling him up. After having retained club captain Tiri and Brazilian midfielder Memo, Martinez would be a welcome addition for the fans. Apart from them, JFC have also roped in Spanish midfielders Noe Acosta and Aitor Monroy, and striker Piti.

After Nigerian forward Izu Azuka and Australian legend Tim Cahill failed to deliver up front last season, JFC have taken the younger route, who will have a lot to prove.
