Barcelona loan out Philippe Coutinho to Bayern Munich

Phillippe Coutinho joined Barcelona in January 2018, after securing a mega transfer move for £142m from Liverpool. Despite the huge transfer fee, the Brazilian International has not impressed with his performances and has fallen well short of expectations at the Camp Nou. That is in spite of scoring 21 goals in 76 appearances, which has seen the La Liga giants actively looking for clubs to sell the Brazilian to, with Tottenham and Arsenal being strongly linked.

But with the departure of Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and James Rodriguez this summer, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich were desperate to reinforcements. Their pursuit of Leroy Sane has been well documented, before they settled on Ivan Perisic. Now having got the Croatian winger, the Bavarians are targeting a marquee superstar and believe that Philippe Coutinho is their man. 

Recent reports have revealed that the Brazilian is on their shortlist and that a loan move with an option to buy was on the books. Barcelona all but confirmed it less than a week ago, with Bayern doing the same now. In an interview with the club’s official website, Bayern’s chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge went on to say, "I can confirm that I was in Barcelona with Hasan Salihamidzic on Wednesday and that we reached an agreement with both the club and Coutinho. We have been dealing with the player for a while." 

A fee in the region of £15m to £20m has been agreed between the two clubs BBC reports, which includes an option to buy at £120m. The attacking midfielder becomes Bayern’s fifth signing of the season, after the arrivals of Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Pavard, Fiete Arp, and Ivan Perisic.
