Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny, has made everyone know at the start of pre-season that he was done with the club, handing over a transfer request. In a bizarre twist of events, the Frenchman is currently considering a move back to his homeland, in order to represent a Ligue 1 club.

Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny is negotiating with Stade Rennes, according to Sky Sports, after surprising both the fans and the board. The 33-year-old admitted that he no longer wanted to represent Arsenal and refused to go on their pre-season tour.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has also commented on the matter as well, informing the world that the defender is no longer part of Arsenal's plans for the new season. With the club willing to find a solution that benefits both parties, Koscielny has started talks to find his new side.

Thanks to Koscielny's departure and Shkodran Mustafi potential move to AS Monaco, the North London club is on the market for new centre-backs. They’re looking to strengthening their squad, just before the start of the season and have been linked with a move for Juventus star Daniele Rugani.

Koscielny joined Arsenal in 2010 from FC Lorient, making 350 appearances, scoring 27 goals and has won three FA Cups. The Frenchman was rumoured to join Bordeaux, with coach Paulo Sousa publicly saying that their interest was real. It is expected that negotiations will take a faster approach with the Premier League deadline inching closer.
