Arsenal manager Unai Emery is walking on a tight rope as the club continues to disappoint with recent results and club chief Raul Sanllehi has identified the successor to Emery. Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be the one to take over if the former Sevilla manager is shown the exit door.

According to English outlet Daily Mail, Arsenal hierarchy have identified Nuno Espirito Santo as the man to take over the Arsenal managerial job from Unai Emery after the Spanish boss has failed to deliver the desired results. Emery took over from Arsene Wenger in 2018 and was able to guide the team to the UEFA Europa League final last season. However, the current season has been a major disappointment to the Arsenal fans as the Emery has failed to build on last season’s development.

Gunners are winless in their last 6 games in all competitions with their last win coming against Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League in October. The recent slump has mounted serious questions on Emery’s leadership and the club chief Raul Sanllehi has given his nod to replace the former PSG manager. Emery is already on borrowed time and if the poor form continues he could soon face the axe.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Espirito Santo has been outstanding with the Wolves side and is the favourite candidate to replace Emery. Sanllehi has a good and long-standing friendship with Jorge Mendes, who also happens to be the agent of the Portuguese coach. Daily Mail further reported that even Mauricio Pochettino is being evaluated as an option after the Argentine was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur during the International break. However, Santo remains the first choice and easy to get hold off rather than the former Spurs manager.

The North Londoners were able to secure a point after being 2-1 down to Southampton during the weekend. The solitary point leaves them 8th in the Premier League table with just 4 wins in 13 games. Emery’s men will now welcome German club Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday in the penultimate matchday of the Europa League.
