Returning to Real Madrid is not imperative, says Achraf Hakimi

Achraf Hakimi is currently fulfilling a loan deal with Borussia Dortmund from Real Madrid. The loan move apparently runs out at the end of this season, but the Morocco international still has no idea what's his plans for the future, as he continues to impress everyone at the German club.

The 20-year-old has made incredible strides in his game during his spell at Borussia Dortmund, splitting his time between defense and a hybrid role in midfield and attack. On his latest fixture for the Champions League, Hakimi scored both goals in either half to give the Signal Iduna Park side an important victory.  However, even with such great performances, a return to Madrid is something that's not fully on the cards for the young full-back, according to Goal.

The Merengues have always been a different club from the others when it comes to their transfer policy. They prefer to acquire superstars for enormous amounts, due to their marketability. This saw Hakimi leave the Santiago Bernabeu on a two-year loan deal with no option to buy, although Borussia Dortmund will try and sign the full-back permanently.

"Returning to Madrid does not depend on me. The two clubs have to talk and they will decide at the end of the year. It would not be a failure not to return to Real Madrid in the summer. I want to continue growing and I am very focused here. I have grown since I arrived in Germany," Hakimi said to the press.

"I have a lot of continuity and confidence – and it shows. For the moment, I have not talked to [Madrid boss Zinedine] Zidane. I was a bit surprised that the coach started me in such an attacking position, I know I can play there but I'm just happy that I could help the team to victory."
