Not worried about getting sacked, reveals Mauricio Pochettino
Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he doesn’t fear getting sacked despite Tottenham’s bad run of results. Spurs have struggled to put their best foot forward, winning just three games this season and have already lost five out of 11 games even losing to League Two side Colchester United.
Tottenham’s run of form in 2019 has gone from bad to worse for the club, with them yet to win an away game in the league since a win against Fulham in January. That’s 17 away matches without a win and it’s more than any top flight, with even relegated Cardiff City winning more points than the North London giants. However, their form in the 2019/20 season has been miserable with them losing 5 out of their 11 games played in all competitions.
That includes a humbling defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich, a Carabao Cup defeat by Colchester United and a 3-0 loss at Brighton. Yet despite that and rumors that he might get sacked before the international break is over, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is not worried. The Argentine went on to admit that there are more important things in the world than football, and it’s a game where you win sometimes and lose sometimes.
"No I am not worried, what worries me is life, not football. Football is a game that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The problem for us - it was win, win, win and it was praise for everyone. Now in the last two games it was a tough situation to accept. But I don't want to be a philosopher or talk in a way that is not good,” said Pochettino reports BBC.
With a tough run of fixtures after the international break, Tottenham face Watford, Red Star Belgrade and Liverpool, Pochettino looks to get his team back on track. The Argentine went on to take full responsibility for the club’s results but also added that the club will get things back on track again.
"Football is [about being] strong and brave and taking decisions; and to show your face when things are not good. That is what we are going to do, face the negative things and try to work hard to change this dynamic. In my position I need to accept all the criticism. The same when you praise me or the team,” concluded Pochettino.
