Reports | Manchester United rule out any panic moves in January

Despite being linked with a catalogue of players over the summer window Manchester United walked into the new season with only three new additions. That is despite the fact that they let Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera, and even Antonio Valencia leave the club and that has caused a few problems. It has seen the club struggle to manage with a lack of depth in key areas which has seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dip into the youth academy who have failed to adapt, so far, to playing against top-level opponents.

But the Daily Mail has reported that the Red Devils are looking towards the January window to bring in reinforcements but will not go on a spending spree to improve to the team. The report added that Solskjaer believes he needs one or two new additions in the winter but is not going to ask the club to go and spend heavily in order to get them. The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Moussa Dembele but with Olympique Lyon asking for £71 million to sign him in January because of interest from other sides as well.

That has seen the Mail go on to report that the Red Devils are willing to wait instead and move for him in the 2020 summer window instead. Furthermore, the Mail reports that Solskjaer wants the club to use a giant Spanish consultancy service to help them find better players. Liverpool are one of the many clubs around the world that use the service and it helped them unearth Philippe Coutinho and a few other players. Not just that, the Mail added that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer policy has now become the blueprint for the future regardless of who the current manager is.
