Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that their star forward Neymar is set to miss one month's action with a hamstring injury. The Brazilian superstar only made his return in September, after issues with his ankle, and has been in fine form since then scoring four goals in five games.

PSG forward Neymar returned to Paris on Monday and underwent MRI scans to determine the damage that had been done to the muscle. The Mirror has reported that the Ligue 1 giants have released a statement saying that the scans have shown significant damage to the Brazilian's hamstring which will put their £222 million man out of action for at least a month. The former Barcelona star will undergo extensive assessment over the next eight days and will be observed to see if there’s any further damage.

The 27-year-old started the friendly against Nigeria but coach Tite was forced to withdraw Neymar after just 12 minutes and he was replaced by Bayern Munich star Philippe Coutinho. The report from the Mirror further added that Tite refuted reports that he already knew about Neymar’s issues with his hamstring and despite that played the Samba star. The Brazil head coach added that he thought it would have been irresponsible of him to play an injured star and there have been no complaints from PSG or manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel already faces an uphill task of fielding a strong eleven with the Parisians plauged with injury issues. The likes Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Julian Draxler are out of the team due to various injuries and Neymar has just been added to the list. The Brazilian has had an injury-ravaged 18 months with the French champions, with him likely to miss at least six matches following this latest setback. Among PSG's fixtures are two back-to-back Champions League group stage clashes against Club Brugge.

But Neymar would have missed the first game thanks to the last of a three-match suspension. He is also set to miss Ligue 1 fixtures against Nice and Marseille but the Mirror added that he could be fit just in time for their showdown against Real Madrid in late November.
