We deserve to be criticised, confesses Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his side needs to be criticised after their poor start to the season, with Tottenham struggling to perform. The North London side have only eight points from six league games and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Colchester United recently.

Despite their performances last season and a whole host of new arrivals joining the club this summer, Tottenham have struggled to get their feet off the ground. The North London side have already managed to lose two games so far this season, and are currently on a three-game winless run. That includes a loss to League Two side Colchester United, Leicester City and a draw in the Champions League to Olympiacos.

It’s a run that has caused a few problems for the club but Mauricio Pochettino believes that the club deserves the criticism that they have got so far. In an interview with the BBC, the Argentine believes that the club were praised and now need to adapt to change with the times.

"If we don't get the results that people expect, we need to accept the criticism. For nearly five years it was all praise for Tottenham. Now, if we deserve to be criticised, we need to accept that,” Pochettino told BBC.

Tottenham have struggled in the Premier League, no winning an away game since late January and have wasted two goal leads in recent weeks. Not to mention, their never ending trophy drought has further affected morale at the club, and that doesn’t look like it might change. After being knocked out of the Carabao Cup, Spurs only have the FA Cup and the Champions League to compete in. That doesn’t worry Pochettino but he does want to fix the damage at the club and further went on to add that things will change for Tottenham eventually.

“Damage has happened that we need to fix. We are, at the moment, fixing problems to try to be better and get the results we expect. We're not so far away. Our performances are not as bad as the feeling creates. I'm sure that we are going to start to win games, but we need to find the solution,” concluded the Argentine.
