As the summer transfer window heats up, Darwin Nunez appears likely to exit Liverpool, with growing interest from both Europe and Saudi Arabia. AC Milan have reportedly submitted a £52 million bid for the Uruguayan striker, while Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are also keen, especially if their pursuit of Victor Osimhen fails. Liverpool, who signed Nunez for £85 million in 2022, are now open to accepting around £70 million, taking a financial loss on the player.

Nunez, 26, has recorded 25 goals and 16 assists in 95 Premier League appearances. He recently scored in a pre-season friendly against Preston, highlighting his ongoing sharpness. Al Hilal had earlier agreed terms with Napoli for Osimhen, but the Nigerian forward rejected a staggering €40 million (£34.8 million) per year offer, prompting the club to consider Nunez as their alternative. Napoli, now managed by Antonio Conte, also remains in the mix for Nunez’s signature.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are exploring replacements and have shown interest in Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. The Frenchman, who scored 14 goals last season, has two years left on his contract and could be available for £40 to £50 million. Talks between his representatives and Liverpool officials have already taken place in Paris.
