Liverpool and Arsenal in Race for £120m Alexander Isak

Liverpool have opened talks to sign Newcastle’s star striker Alexander Isak, valued at £120 million. Isak has scored 58 goals in 100 appearances since 2022 and netted the winner in Newcastle Carabao Cup triumph over Liverpool. Arsenal also considers Isak their top target, while Liverpool eyes him as a potential upgrade over Darwin Nunez.

In the transfer window, Liverpool have opened talks with Alexander Isak’s camp over a potential summer move, viewing him as a major upgrade to Darwin Nunez, who has only scored five Premier League goals this season. Isak, the 25-year-old Swedish forward, has been sensational for Newcastle United, netting 58 goals in 100 appearances since his arrival from Real Sociedad in 2022. His stock further rose after scoring the decisive goal in Newcastle's 2-1 Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool at Wembley.

Isak, valued at around £120 million, has attracted interest from top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, and PSG. Arsenal reportedly see him as their "absolute top target" while Liverpool have also contacted people close to the player. Newcastle, however, remain firm on keeping Isak, with manager Eddie Howe considering him central to their plans as they aim for Champions League qualification.

Despite the growing speculation, Isak remains focused on the current season, expressing happiness at Newcastle and aiming for more trophies. With his contract running until June 2028, any potential transfer will require a massive bid. As per Fabrizio Romano, both Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to push hard in the summer window for the prolific striker.
