During the UEFA Nations League quarterfinals, Portugal staged a remarkable comeback to thrash Denmark 5-2 in the second leg, securing a 5-3 aggregate victory and a spot in the semifinals against Germany. Denmark had won the first leg 1-0, courtesy of a late strike by Rasmus Hojlund. However, Portugal dominated the return leg despite an early setback when Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty, saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

The scoring opened with an own goal by Denmark’s Joachim Andersen, giving Portugal an early advantage. Denmark responded in the 56th minute through Rasmus Kristensen, momentarily putting them ahead on aggregate. Ronaldo made amends by scoring in the 72nd minute, but Christian Eriksen quickly restored Denmark's lead with a goal in the 76th minute.

Portugal responded with a flurry of late goals. Francisco Trincao netted twice, scoring in the 86th and 91st minutes, turning the match firmly in Portugal’s favour. Goncalo Ramos sealed the win with a 115th-minute strike, eliminating Denmark and confirming Portugal’s place in the semifinals.

Despite Ronaldo’s penalty miss, Portugal’s attacking prowess shone, with Trincao’s brace proving decisive. The result sets up an exciting semifinal clash between Portugal and Germany, as Portugal eyes UEFA Nations League glory.
