As the summer transfer window approaches, Real Madrid has emerged as a serious contender for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. The Spanish giants are reportedly preparing a £90 million bid for the 30-year-old midfielder, who has been a key player for United since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for £68 million.

Fernandes has been in excellent form, scoring 95 goals in 227 appearances for the club, including 16 goals and 16 assists in 44 matches this season. He recently netted a hat-trick in a 4-1 Europa League win over Real Sociedad and has scored seven goals in his last seven games.

With Luka Modric, 39, nearing the end of his career, Real Madrid sees Fernandes as a potential successor. His contract with United runs until 2027, with an option for an additional year. While manager Ruben Amorim wants to keep him, United’s financial struggles could force them to consider the offer.

If the transfer happens, it would surpass United’s record sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £80 million in 2009. Fernandes, currently United’s top scorer this season, remains focused on helping the team while speculation about his future continues.
