Cristiano Ronaldo has denied speculation about leaving Al Nassr after reportedly protesting against Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund by missing two league matches. The 41 year old, contracted until June 2027, insisted he is happy and wants to stay. Al Nassr lead the league by one point over Al Hilal, while Ronaldo has scored 20 goals in 20 games, ranking third in the Golden Boot race.
As the speculation around Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Al Nassr intensified, the Portuguese superstar firmly shut down rumors of unrest and a possible exit from Saudi Arabia. Reports had suggested that the 41 year old forward was unhappy with the Saudi Public Investment Fund, which owns Al Nassr along with Al Hilal, Al Ahli and Al Ittihad. Ronaldo had reportedly staged a brief protest by sitting out two consecutive league matches, allegedly frustrated that Al Hilal received greater backing in the transfer market, including the signing of his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema.
However, following Al Nassr’s emphatic 4 0 victory over Al Hazem on February 21, Ronaldo made his stance clear. Speaking to Saudi broadcaster Thmanyah, he expressed happiness with life in the country, stating that Saudi Arabia had warmly welcomed him and his family. He emphasized his desire to continue at the club and focus on winning.
Al Nassr currently leads the Saudi Pro League standings, sitting one point ahead of Al Hilal as they chase Ronaldo’s first league title in the country since his arrival in 2023. Individually, he remains a key contributor, ranking third in the Golden Boot race with 20 goals in 20 matches.
