Cristiano Ronaldo picked up a hamstring tendon injury during Al Nassr FC’s 3-1 win over Al Fayha FC in the Saudi Pro League. The 41-year-old was substituted in the 81st minute after missing a 12th-minute penalty. He may miss Portugal friendlies against the Mexico national football team and the United States men's national soccer team, but is expected to recover within 2-4 weeks before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

For Cristiano Ronaldo, a recent injury has created concern but it is not expected to affect his plans for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Portuguese star suffered a hamstring tendon injury during Al Nassr FC’s 3-1 victory over Al Fayha FC in the Saudi Pro League last Saturday. The 41-year-old forward appeared uncomfortable late in the match and signalled to the bench in the 81st minute before being substituted by Abdullah Al Hamdan.

Earlier in the game, Ronaldo had also missed a penalty in the 12th minute, making it a frustrating night for the veteran striker before he was forced to leave the field. Club officials later confirmed that the injury is not serious. Ronaldo is expected to remain out of action for around 2-4 weeks and has already begun a rehabilitation programme. Medical staff will continue monitoring his recovery to ensure he returns to full fitness before the World Cup begins on June 11, 2026.

Because of the injury, Ronaldo will likely miss Portugal’s upcoming international friendlies against the Mexico national football team and the United States men's national soccer team later this month. Despite the setback, Ronaldo is enjoying another productive season with Al Nassr, scoring 21 goals so far and remaining the club’s leading scorer.
