PKL 2017 | Patna Pirates : Preview, Player List, Fixtures, Live Streaming
In Indian history, Patna, which was ruled by King Ashoka, had asserted its dominance in all over India and thus making it the most fearsome state. Much like the city to which it belongs, Patna Pirates have dominated the Pro Kabaddi League since its inception and will only hope to continue the same.
Last season finish:
Other teams of the Pro Kabaddi League will definitely want to learn the way how Patna Pirates performed throughout the four editions of the league. In the first two seasons, they finished at third and fourth positions respectively in the point table. In the third season, they bettered the feat and emerged victorious in the following edition and defended the title successfully.
Patna Pirates at the 2017 PKL auction:
Patna Pirates retained their star performer Pardeep Narwal in their squad for the new season. In the auction for the PKL season 5, Patna Pirates spent INR 240.1 lakhs to be benefitted with the services of the ten players. The Pirates’ most expensive purchase was Monu Goyat as they paid Rs 44.5 lakhs for his service. Along with the 24-year raider, the Bihar-based franchise also included Sachin Shingade for Rs 42.50 lakhs and Vishal Mane for Rs 36.5 lakhs. With the Indian players, the Pirates also signed Mohammad Maghsoudlou of Iran for Rs 8 lakhs.

Key Players:
Pardeep Narwal – The Haryana lad is just 20 years old but made his name in the world of Kabaddi through his fantastic trademark ‘dubki’ on the mat. Patna Pirates took a positive step as they retained him for this season. The young star of Patna Pirates has played 38 matches in PKL and scored 263 points which include 256 from raids only. He jointly holds the records with Kashiling Adake for most points in a single match which is 24.
Strengths:
Patna Pirates are champions of season 3 and season 4 and become the first team to retain their title after defeating Jaipur Pink Panthers in season 4 finale. The Pirates transformed themselves into the most successful team in the history of the PKL. Every single player in the squad will be eagered to repeat the history for the third time in a row.
Weakness:
Given that season 5 of the PKL will see four new teams entering the fray, a lot of changes in personnel have taken place. More importantly, this also means that the new members of each of the teams do not have any experience of playing with each other and this is certain to be a weakness for all of them including the two-time champions. For this season teams get the authority to retain their only one player because of that Patna Pirates will enter with mostly all new faces, which can hamper them to create the hat-trick for the trophy.
