After their win against Tamil Thalaivas, Bengal Warriors’ coach BC Ramesh has said that winning a tough match helped in boosting their confidence, especially after their previous loss. He also talked about their aim in the upcoming Bengaluru leg and the area in which Bengal need to improve the most.

Bengal Warriors outplayed the experienced Tamil Thalaivas side in a well-fought encounter last night. They won 35-26 despite Ajay Thakur’s best efforts. Bengal Warriors had a shaky start as Ajay Thakur was taking points in raiding but Maninder and Prapanjan were not able to do the same. The momentum shifted to Bengal’s side after he ousted four players in two successive raids and led the Thalaivas towards an all-out.

“It’s very important. Winning the match tonight was critical after losing the last game. It was a tough match as well, so winning does boost our confidence. We’ll now aim to go to the top by beating U.P. Yoddha in our next match in Bengaluru. Both, our defenders and raiders, played well today, and the overall performance of the team was very good,” Bengal Warriors coach BC Ramesh said in the post-match press conference.

After the all-out, Thalaivas recovered quickly but Bengal Warriors were persistent and didn’t let their guard down. In the raiding department, K. Prapanjan was the highest scorer with 10 points and he was well supported by skipper Maninder who despite a bad start finished the match with nine points. The defence was better than their previous match and managed to keep Rahul Chaudhari quiet, the highest scorer in defence was Rinku Narwal with a high five to his name.

“Defence. Our defence needs to concentrate a lot more. Our raiders, Maninder, K. Prapanjan, Sukesh Hegde and Mohammad Nabibakhsh, are doing well. But the defence needs to concentrate much more in our upcoming games,” coach Ramesh stated.
