Bengal coach BC Ramesh has admitted to the fact that his boys committed mistakes in the second half of the game which allowed Jaipur to come back in the close game last evening. Bengal still managed to win the game 41-40 and made it to the playoffs of the ongoing edition of the PKL.

After an exciting first half, the second half was mostly dominated by Bengal Warriors as they maintained pressure from the very beginning of the half. However, the Bengal defence gave away a few easy points towards the end of the match which allowed the home side to take the match down to the last minute. Finally, Bengal emerged winners and qualified for the playoffs. However, their coach BC Ramesh mentioned about the errors which allowed Jaipur to bounce back in the match last evening.

“The performance was good for most part. However, it was too close for comfort in the final few minutes. We allowed them to make a comeback mostly through our own errors,” Ramesh told reporters after the game.

“We were rightly taking our time during our raids, but they were putting in shorter raids and scoring bonuses. Our defenders tried to stop that and ended up giving away touch points as well.”

K Prapanjan was injured after a brilliant multiple-point raid where he got rid of four men of the Jaipur side in the second half and was replaced with Ravindra Ramesh Kumawat. However, Kumawat also got injured which forced the Bengal side to go with Sukesh Hegde for the last few minutes of the match. While speaking about this, coach said, “K. Prapanjan was playing his part as the supporting raider. But he had to come off due to a slight injury. Otherwise, the raiding unit was doing its part."

Bengal, after qualifying for the playoffs now, will take on Telugu Titans in their next game and coach Ramesh doesn’t want to take that game likely. Bengal will want to go for a win is what the coach said when asked about the same during the press conference.

“We have to try and win. They are a very good team with some fantastic players. Siddharth Desai has found form recently. Suraj is also a dangerous raider. In defence, they have Abozar Mohajermighani and Vishal Bhardwaj. So, they are an excellent team and I hope we can perform well against them.

“We want to try and win all our games but yes, it’s important to test the bench and rotate a few starters. We will see what they have to offer as well,” BC Ramesh concluded.
