Hrithik Shokeen Career

Cricketer Hrithik Shokeen was born in India on August 14, 2000. He was selected for the India U23 team to compete in the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh in November 2019. On November 14, 2019, he made his List A debut for India U23 against Nepal in the Emerging Teams Cup. He was purchased by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL (Indian Premier League) auction in February 2022. On April 21, 2022, while playing for the Mumbai Indians in the 2022 IPL, he made his Twenty20 debut.

Prior to the Mumbai Indians' game against the Chennai Super Kings in the 2022 season, Hrithik Shokeen was given his first IPL cap. Three changes were made to the playing XI of the Mumbai-based team for the tournament's first El Clasico.

Shokeen has not yet participated in senior domestic cricket. He has previously played for the India U-23 and India Emerging Teams. Shokeen has taken eight wickets and scored 24 runs in eight List-A games. It's interesting to note that he managed to score more runs in his first IPL match than he did in his previous three List-A innings.

Hrithik Shokeen, 22, of Delhi, who was playing against Manipur in group B of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, was the game's first “impact player” and helped his team win by 71 runs. Manipur was limited to 96 for seven in their 20 overs by Delhi, who substituted Hiten Dalal with Mumbai Indians off-spinner Shokeen. Shokeen took two wickets and gave up only 13 runs.

Right-handed opener Hiten Dalal struck a scorching 47 runs off only 27 balls earlier in the first innings, aiding Delhi in amassing 167 runs. In a different match, Mumbai's run chase against Mizoram saw Sairaj Patel come in for right-arm seamer Dhawal Kulkarni. Mumbai, however, won by nine wickets without using their impact player.

Hrithik Shokeen played the whole Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and showed an outstanding performance for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai, meanwhile, might not have a place for an off-spinner whose power-hitting skills haven't fully evolved. As the primary spinner, MI will want to use the versatile Kumar Kartikeya because the 22-year-old is not a proven wicket-taker.

Shokeen is a player with promise, but he still has to develop before he can play regularly in the IPL. Additionally, given MI's roster composition, they would need to retain him on drinks duty throughout the IPL in 2023.

IPL over the years

MI gave Hrithik Shokeen, a young player, his IPL debut during the previous season. The all-rounder, who was still relatively unknown, was under pressure to perform. But in the five games he played, he showed incredible guts and courage, leaving a lasting impact.
