RCB skipper Virat Kohli has been fined 24 lakhs for his team's slow over rate against KKR on Monday at the Chinnaswamy. Rival captain Gautam Gambhir was also docked 15% of his match fees for despicable conduct after he kicked a chair in the dugout in the final stages of KKR's thrilling comeback.

"Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain was fined after the team maintained a slow over-rate during last evening's IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

This is the second time the Indian Test skipper has been fined after having paid a 12-lakh fine earlier for the same reasons. The fine was doubled in this occasion around given it was the second time.

Gambhir, meanwhile, picked up the fine for his emotional outburst after KKR staged a remarkable comeback to win the away encounter after being 69/4 at one stage chasing a huge total of 185. In the 19th over, Suryakumar Yadav had sent the ball flying to the boundary to almost seal the match, and Gambhir was seen pumped up and kicking down the chair in the dugout.

"Gautam Gambhir from the Kolkata Knight Riders team was fined 15% of his match fee for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.

"Gambhir admitted the Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.8) of abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," said the IPL release.
