IPL 2016: KKR appoint Mark Boucher as wicket-keeping consultant
Kolkata Knight Riders have appointed former South African wicket-keeper Mark Boucher as the wicket-keeping consultant for the rest of the IPL season. Boucher will join his former Proteas team-mate Jacques Kallis, who is the head coach of the franchise, in the Knight Riders coaching team.
Boucher, who played more than 147 Tests, 295 ODIs, and 25 T20I matches for South Africa, has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (2008 to 2010), and Kolkata Knight Riders (2011) during his IPL career. The 39-year-old was forced to retire back in 2012 after suffering a blow to his eye during a warm-up during their tour of England.
Kolkata Knight Riders have two wicket-keeper batsmen in the squad with the experienced Robin Uthappa donning the gloves in all the games ahead of Saurashtra's Sheldon Jackson. According to ESPNCricinfo, the South African was signed after the tournament began and is likely to join up with squad shortly.
The Gautam Gambhir-led side are currently leading the IPL table with six wins from nine games, and will next face Gujarat Lions at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 8.
